travel writer and former tour manager Reg Butler -
author of innumerable newspaper articles and 24
guidebooks.
Travel and Holidays in laterlife aims to be a
comprehensive guide to a wide variety of holiday
cities and regions through-out the UK, continental
Europe and to many long-haul destinations in Asia,
Africa and the Americas.
 In each case, Reg draws upon his extensive experience
to provide a personalized over-50s view of each
destination. The essence is to capture the flavour of
the location, so it's easy to decide "Is that for
me?"
 Each page
follows a standard format (see below) to make it easy
to find the information you want. In addition each page
provides a link to the holiday offers section.

 An introduction to Travel and Holidays in
laterlife
During his long career, Reg Butler has spent an average
18 weeks a year on the road. He worked as a Tour
Manager for 12 summer seasons, conducting groups on
classic tours of Europe - and then writing syndicated
travel articles for newspapers in UK, USA, South Africa
and Australia. His tour manager years included pioneer
circuits through Eastern Europe, when that region was
relatively off-trail.
 Then for years he worked as Correspondent for a
New York magazine publishing group, making 23
consecutive annual circuits of the Far East, including
India, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan and South
Korea. Even more visits were made to southern Africa,
and innumerable return trips to Eastern and Western
Europe.
During the 1990s Reg produced a series of Citybreak
pocket guidebooks that covered Europe's highlight
cities, and a similar longhaul series. These guidebooks
- some going into seven editions - were sold in UK and
US bookshops, and were also bought in large numbers by
Thomson Holidays to include in clients' travel packs.
Well over a million copies were published, but
regrettably the books are now out of print.
